Hi hello okay so I’m going away for a week. I know I’ve hardly been here lately in any case but for the next five days I’ll be around even less because I’m off to hang ten with gnarly dudes on beaches and bother puffins & porpoises & other p animals. So if anything important (read: Bruce related) happens let me know via Twitter or call & shout excitedly at me if you prefer.
Right, my goofy face & I need to pack up, shut up & head off into the outside with the sun & this collection of fabulous (even if I do say so myself) mix CDs for the trip far away to the edge of Wales. That’s practically abroad! And I hardly ever go outdoors! If anyone wants a charming British postcard to commemorate the occasion then feel free to send addresses in direct messages on Twitter because well, I just like writing to folks I guess. So. I’ll see y’all on the flipside!

But my ultimate inspiration comes from my best friend, the dazzling woman from whom I received my name as well as my life’s blood. My mother never gave me any idea that I couldn’t do whatever I wanted to do or be whomever I wanted to be. She filled our house with love and fun and books and music, unflagging in her efforts to give me role models from Jane Austen to Eudora Welty to Patti Smith. As she guided me through these incredible eighteen years, I don’t know if she ever realized that the person I most wanted to be was her.

Brukulele.
you know who was really awesome?
george harrison because he didn’t want to bother anyone, he was content to write songs about krishna and the government and occasionally he’d make a smart ass remark about paul mccartney or he’d whine about yoko stealing his digestive biscuits
but even after all that like he still hung out with john and yoko throughout the seventies and did his own thing
he was just such an easygoing guy mostly because he just didn’t give a shit but i miss him aw
Art from the Wrecking Ball Tour Book, from Michelle Holme’s website.
Michelle is an associate art director at Sony Music, responsible for the logos, packaging, images, etc. that accompany their artists’ releases. She also recently won a Grammy for her work on the Darkness… boxset.
Her site features a whole bunch of wonderful high resolution examples of Springsteen (& Patti) related design & merchandise.
I went to Google to look for Patti Scialfa album artwork & instead just spent about twenty minutes playing Bruce (& Celine Dion…) songs on the Google doodle for today because happy 78th birthday Bob Moog! I’m probably not on familiar enough terms with him to call him Bob yet but I’m sure he won’t mind. Moogs are the best instrument. With the best name.
